Welcome to AkataleUG (“we,” “us,” “our,” or “the Platform”). By accessing or using AkataleUG, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform.
1. What AkataleUG Is
AkataleUG is a free online classifieds marketplace that allows individuals in Uganda to post (“Sellers”) and browse (“Buyers”) listings for items and services. AkataleUG is a listing platform only — we do not buy, sell, own, inspect, or take possession of any item listed on the Platform, and we are not a party to any transaction between a Buyer and Seller.
2. No Responsibility for Transactions
All transactions, negotiations, payments, and exchanges of goods happen directly between Buyers and Sellers, entirely outside of AkataleUG. We do not guarantee the accuracy of any listing, the quality, safety, or legality of any item, or the ability of any Seller to sell or Buyer to pay. AkataleUG is not responsible for any loss, damage, fraud, or dispute arising from a transaction between users. Buyers and Sellers are strongly encouraged to meet in safe, public locations and exercise their own judgment before exchanging money or goods.
3. Account Registration
To post a listing, you must register an account and provide accurate information. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity under your account.
4. Prohibited Items and Content
The following may not be listed, advertised, or offered on AkataleUG:
- Weapons, firearms, ammunition, or explosives
- Illegal drugs, controlled substances, or drug paraphernalia
- Counterfeit, replica, or stolen goods
- Pornographic, sexually explicit, or obscene material
- Items violating any Ugandan law or regulation
- Live animals obtained illegally, or animals protected under wildlife conservation law
- Human remains, body parts, or bodily fluids
- Content that is fraudulent, misleading, defamatory, obscene, or hateful
- Any item or service prohibited by applicable Ugandan or international law
AkataleUG reserves the right to remove any listing and suspend or terminate any account that violates these rules, at our sole discretion, without prior notice.
5. User Conduct
You agree not to:
- Post false, misleading, or duplicate listings
- Harass, threaten, or defraud other users
- Use the Platform for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to interfere with the security or proper functioning of the Platform
6. Listings and Content
By posting a listing, you confirm that you have the legal right to sell the item or offer the service described, and that all information provided is accurate. You retain ownership of the content you post, but grant AkataleUG the right to display it on the Platform.
7. Fees
AkataleUG is currently free to use. Certain optional features (such as featured or highlighted listings) may be offered for a fee in the future. Any such fees will be clearly communicated before you are charged.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, AkataleUG and its owners, operators, and staff shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Platform, including but not limited to losses resulting from transactions with other users.
9. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to AkataleUG at any time, for any reason, including violation of these Terms.
10. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time. Continued use of the Platform after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Uganda.
